Five cross-field checks before you file.
The same figure can appear in four places under three names. Grantforge will run the same consistency checks a reviewer runs — each finding will say which two figures disagree and by how much.
- Revenue total check — Total Revenue must equal Federal + Non-Federal. Will flag the exact discrepancy.
- Expense total check — Total Expenses must equal Program Services + Management & General + Fundraising.
- Expense-to-revenue ratio — Will flag when expenditures exceed revenue with the deficit amount and percentage.
- Non-Federal Share range — Will alert when the non-federal percentage falls outside the typical 20–80% range.
- Revenue-equals-expenses warning — Net zero is unusual for most grant periods. Will flag for verification.

Grant reporting is not hard, it is unforgiving. Most of it is arithmetic somebody does in a spreadsheet at midnight. Grantforge replaces that spreadsheet.

Section 1: Revenue — total, federal, non-federal, and the computed revenue subtotal. Section 2: Expenses — program services, management & general, fundraising, and the computed expense subtotal. Section 3: Summary — the net surplus or deficit and the non-federal share percentage. Section 4: Consistency findings — numbered findings with severity indicators and the specific discrepancy.
Is this really a replacement for a midnight spreadsheet?
“I already have a spreadsheet template. Why switch?”
Spreadsheets do not check for consistency across sections. It is easy to enter Total Revenue that does not match the sum of its parts — the spreadsheet accepts it silently. Grantforge checks every cross-field relationship and names the exact discrepancy.
“Will it work with my funder’s specific form?”
Grantforge targets the most common CPB grant-report category structure. If your funder asks for different categories, the tool may need category labels changed. The arithmetic and consistency checking are general — the category names can be adapted.
“Is this affiliated with a grant-making body?”
No. Grantforge is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, any state broadcasting commission, or any grant-making organisation. The figures you enter and the filing itself remain entirely your responsibility.
