Grantforge is entirely client-side. Open it in any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) on a desktop or tablet. No installation, no account, no configuration.
How is Grantforge free? What is the catch?
Grantforge is a client-side browser tool. It runs entirely on your machine — no servers to maintain, no accounts to store, no data to process. There is no catch. There is one plan, it is free, it works on any modern browser, and it does not require any account, subscription, or payment information.
Where are my figures stored? Can anyone else see them?
Your figures stay in your browser's memory. They are never sent to any server, never stored in a database, and never visible to anyone else. When you close or reload the tab, the figures are gone. Nothing leaves your machine. See the privacy policy for full details.
Can Grantforge submit my report to the grant-making body?
No. Grantforge does not submit, file, or transmit anything to any grant portal, government agency, or grant-making body. It produces a formatted document that you download and attach to your own filing. The filing itself remains your responsibility.
What format is the downloaded report?
The report is a self-contained HTML document with four sections: Revenue, Expenses, Summary, and Consistency findings. You can open it in a browser and print it as a PDF, or attach the HTML file directly to an online filing system that accepts HTML attachments.
Will Grantforge work with my funder's specific form?
Grantforge targets the most common public-media grant-report category structure (CPB-style). If your funder uses different category labels or requires a different breakdown, the tool may need its category names adapted. The arithmetic and consistency checks are general — the labels can be changed. Contact us if you need guidance on adapting the categories.
The tool is flagged as "in development" — what is missing?
Grantforge is under active development. The app page currently shows a placeholder. When the tool launches, it will have the full form, report generator, and consistency checks described on the home page. Sign up for updates is not available yet — check back or contact us for the current timeline.
Grantforge is precise about its boundaries. These are not bugs — they are intentional constraints or items not yet built.
The tool does not load or the form is empty.
Ensure you are using a modern browser (Chrome 80+, Firefox 80+, Safari 13+, or Edge 80+). Grantforge is client-side only and requires JavaScript to be enabled. If the page shows placeholder text instead of a form, the tool is still in development — that is the expected state.
I see an error or the report does not generate.
The tool requires numeric input in all figure fields. Empty fields, text entries, or non-numeric characters will prevent generation. Check that every field contains a valid number (including decimals). If the problem persists, contact us with the exact steps and what you saw.
I found a bug or have a suggestion.
